Adjusting the Height and Width

After you start adding several pictures to your websites, you may notice they sometimes cause the technique to delay a little while before showing the site. Because they don’t know the size of the image, some surfers actually delay until the pictures are all loaded before showing the website.

Therefore, you can help speed the display of your websites by telling the technique the sizes of your pictures right within the img tag. You do so with the height and width features.

If you don’t know the dimension your picture, you can start it in a design writer, such as Adobe Illustrator or Fireworks, to find out. Or you can use the technique to determine the dimension your pictures.

In Firefox/Mozilla for the Mac and PC, as well as in Opera for the Mac First, load the picture by itself into the technique screen (choose Computer file | Open or Computer file | Open Page and locate the picture file on your computer). Then, look at the top of the technique screen where the headline is usually shown. When you view an picture file, these surfers print the size and height of the picture (in that order) in the headline.

In Internet Explorer Load the picture into the internet browser screen (choose Computer file | Start and locate the picture file on your computer, or drag it from the desktop into a internet browser window). Then, right-click the picture and select Properties. The size is displayed as dimensions (width × height).
